Sarno stamps class in online lift meet


    UNMINDFUL of performing early morning yesterday, former Asian Youth champion Vanessa Sarno stamped her class to sweep the women’s 71-kilogram division of the first online Youth World Cup weightlifting championships organized by the Peruvian Weightlifting Federation.

    Sarno, 18, who bagged two gold and won silver medals in the 2019 Asian Youth and Junior weightlifting meet in Pyongyang, North Korea, showcased her strength and skill from her hometown of Tagbiliran, Bohol.

    Witnessed on the internet by Peruvian judges halfway around the globe, the precocious lifter hoisted 91 kilos in the snatch, 118 kilos in the clean and jerk for total of 211 pounds and won three gold medals for her second major international triumph.
