PSC steps up bid for bubble

THE Philippine Sports Commission is stepping up its bid to bring back locally-based Olympic qualifiers and hopefuls to the gym this week and is set to meet with the owner of Inspire Academy in Calamba, Laguna for a possible training “bubble.”

“The PSC said it will work on a supplemental paper to the JAO (Joint Administrative Order) this coming week so that our Olympic qualifiers and hopeful can finally resume their training,” Olympic squad chief of mission Mariano Araneta Jr. said.

He said this was conveyed during a virtual meeting last Friday hosted by PSC chairman

Butch Ramirez and attended by Olympic-bound pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena and gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo, who are both training overseas, and boxers Felix Eumir Marcial and Irish Magno.

Aside from Ramirez, also present during the meeting were Philippine Olympic Committee secretary general Atty. Ed Gastanes, commissioners Charles Maxey, Ramon Fernandez and PSC national training director Marc Velasco, among others.
