THE details of the Philippine Olympic Committee polls in November are expected to be tackled during the POC Executive Board online meeting scheduled this Saturday.
This was the contained in the notice of the meeting sent by POC secretary general Atty. Edwin Gastanes to the 13-man board last Sept. 5, a copy of which was obtained by Malaya-Business Insight.
To be discussed about are the official notice of the polls, the period of filing for the candidates, the appointment of an ad hoc electoral committee or commission on election as well as the proposed venue for the event.
Billiards and Snooker Confederation of Philippines secretary general Robert Mananquil, a member of the board, said there were two plans being pushed for the conduct of the POC polls scheduled for Nov. 20, based on the POC constitution and by-laws.
“One proposal is that we hold the election online while another, since we will still hold the event in late November, is to have an actual election but in a huge function room in keeping with the government’s health guidelines regarding the pandemic,” Mananquil said.
Also to be deliberated on during the meeting are the amendments to the POC charter tackled during the previous board meeting plus updates on the country’s preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games next year and the 2021 Vietnam Southeast Asian Games.
