PALARONG Pambansa swimming champion Lady Lady Samantha Jhunace Corpuz retained her title in the Girls Super Sprint Distance, one of the events disputed in the National Age Group Triathlon Series Leg 1 yesterday at Subic Bay.
Corpuz, the Palaro 400m champion, crossed the finish line in 37 minutes and 45 seconds, easily beating Kira Ellis, who improved on her seventh place finish last year with a runner-up finish this time. Jeanna Mariel Canete of Cebu finished third.
Go for Gold Cebu ruled the Boys Super Sprint Distance event with Matthew Justin Hermosa and Jacob Kennedy Lipunan finishing first and third, respectively. Dash Aron Ramirez of Sta. Cruz, Laguna finished second.
Close to 600 triathletes saw action in the event organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Tourism Department. Other supporters include Pocari Sweat, Asian Centre for Insulation Phils., Finis, Ace, Standard Insurance, StratMed, and PLDT Home.
