THE National Collegiate Athletic Association has suspended all of its second semester events, including the much-awaited cheerdance competition, in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
Management Committee chairman Peter Cayco of Arellano University, explaining the league’s decision, said: “The action of the NCAA is for the safety and welfare of the students, athletes, fans and officials.”
The decision was also in compliance with advisories released by the Department of Health and the Department of Education.
Aside from the cheerdance competition, also shelved were indoor volleyball, football, lawn tennis, soft tennis, track and field, under-15 basketball and beach volleyball.
“The Policy Board is set to meet soon to discuss the possibility of postponing the games, or canceling all together all games,” Cayco added.
