Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad faces tough job

A LITTLE progress is still progress.

Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 Commissioner Eric Altamirano yesterday admitted members of the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad have their work cut out for them but he is convinced they will soon catch up with their preparations for the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying tournament.

“Yesterday (last Monday) was our very first tournament compared to the other leagues sa Europe or sa ibang teams na makakalaban sa OQT. Siguro sila nakaka-tatlong buwan na silang naglalaro, and not only practicing but competing abroad, different World Tours.

Admittedly, medyo way behind tayo,” Altamirano said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum webcast supported by San Miguel Corp., Go for Gold, Milo, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, and Pagcor.

“But then again, we’re just happy na nakapagsimula na tayo ulit,” he added.

One big help should be the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup powered by TM kicking off today at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

Gilas 3×3 players in Fil-Am forward Joshua Munzon and prolific wingman Alvin Pasaol are seeing action in the 3×3 league for Zamboanga City-Family’s Brand Sardines.
