SHAKEN, but not stirred.
Although the country’s hosting of the third window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers has been canceled, Gilas Pilipinas will continue toughening up at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
This was stressed yesterday by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio, who said the final leg of the qualifiers could still be played in a country still to be announced.
“At this point, we will continue practicing. The February window can still happen. We’re waiting for FIBA, in the next few days or next week, to give us an indication of what’s going to happen. We are hopeful that we can find a solution. The FIBA is doing its best to look for another location where we could play the games,” Panlilio said.
“The FIBA and the entire international basketball community as a whole have been heavily impacted by the effects of the pandemic but we’re all working to find ways to push through with the games,” he added.
