Ayo to get baptism of fire in 3×3 play

NEW Manila Chooks TM coach Aldin Ayo will finally get his baptism of fire in 3×3 play.

Ayo’s quartet of former pros Chico Lanete and Mac Tallo, and Zach Huang and Dennis Santos will see action in the 2021 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Doha Masters from March 26 to 27 in Doha.

“We are starting but I believe that we are starting on the right foot. We established a new culture and new approach,” Ayo said.

“Hopefully, mag-respond ang mga player. For us coaches, we are doing our best also and we are grateful sa support na binibigay ng Chooks-to-Go,” he added.

The team tested negative for COVID-19 after the RT-PCR tests last Tuesday and is currently under quarantine before leaving on Saturday, March 20.

Ayo said his charges have chips on their shoulders that should serve them in good stead in the level 11 tourney.

“All of these players are given another opportunity. So iyon ang malaking bagay na puwedeng hawakan ng mga players, seldom magkaroon ng second chance,” Ayo said.

“They are motivated to prove that they can still play.”

Manila Chooks TM will have to go through the qualifying draw with hosts Doha and Austria’s Graz to make it to the main draw.

Already seeded are top teams Liman of Serbia, Riga of Latvia, Ub of Serbia, NY Harlem of USA, Princeton of USA, Novi Sad of Serbia, Amsterdam Talent&Pro of the Netherlands, Piran of Slovenia, Šakiai Gulbelė of Lithuania, Edmonton of Canada, and Lusail of Qatar.
