Alabang CC faces sanction for violating protocols

THE Alabang Country Club and Alabang Club 515, both located in Muntinlupa, could be both severely penalized for reportedly hosting and organizing a tournament while the city south of Manila was still under general community quarantine.

In guideline No. 3 of the Joint Administrative Order No. 2020-0001 issued last July, non-professional sporting events such as tournaments, competitive events and athletic meets, even outdoor ones, are barred in GCQ areas.

“The Joint Administrative Order group has finished its investigation and has submitted its findings to the IATF through the DOH (Department of Health). We hope that those found to have violated the guidelines be sanctioned,” PSC Chairman William Ramirez said yesterday.

Ramirez said the PSC, which oversees amateur sports and events during the COVID-19 pandemic, has asked details of the event from Alabang Country Club president Virgilio Balaguer.
