Agra, Carrasco named to screening panel

OBSTACLE sport chief Atty. Al Agra and triathlon head Tom Carrasco have been named to the joint POC-PSC Task Force Southeast Asian Games 2021 that will screen the athletes who will compete in the 3st Vietnam SEA Games in November, according to national team chief of mission Ramon Fernandez.

“This was agreed upon during our online meeting with the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission last Friday in forming the SEA Games secretariat,” Fernandez, a PSC commissioner, said yesterday.

Agra was earlier tapped as the deputy chief of mission together with muay thai secretary general Pearl Managuelod while Carrasco is a veteran sports hand who has been evaluating national athletes to international competitions such as the SEA Games and the Asian Games.

“We are thinking of having two PSC commissioners who will also be part of the task force that will screen and draw up the criteria for the national athletes for the SEA Games,” Fernandez said after meeting with POC secretary general Atty. Ed Gastanes. “But we will discuss it later.”

He said that he was thinking of either Commissioners Charles Maxey or Celia Kiram, or both, to represent the PSC in the task force.
