MITSUBISHI Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), recently introduced the Xpander Cross to augment the brand’s already top-selling nameplate.
It is a family-friendly 7-seater crossover MPV built with solid SUV styling, comfortable and pleasant drivability, as well as a spacious, practical, and versatile interior design and differs from the regular Xpander with its taller ride height of 225mm and crossover feel due to the specially tuned suspension with a rebound spring. This adds the capability to traverse more challenging terrains without compromising ride comfort.
“The Xpander is a very important product to MMPC as it fits many of the vehicle requirements of Filipinos. It provides reliable performance, a spacious and comfortable interior, a host of safety features, and a very bold design. Now with the entry of the Xpander Cross and its added features, we see the renewed potential to the already successful Xpander nameplate.” MMPC President and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said.
With the tagline “Live Extra”, the Xpander Cross challenges Filipino families to break away from the regular work-to-home routine and live life to the fullest. The launch campaign of the Xpander Cross also features a Drew and Iya Arellano as its brand ambassadors.
“The Arellano family is the best representation of a modern and adventurous Filipino family. Despite their hectic schedule, both Drew and Iya are still able to balance fun and healthy lifestyle. They both excel in their professional careers, are known for their sporty lifestyle and still manage to be amazing parents to their kids.” Alvin Dalida, MMPC’s First Vice President for Marketing and Sales Division said in a press statement.
The Xpander Cross reflects Mitsubishi’s DNA through its Dynamic Shield design that projects the balance of dynamism and power. To further exude the sporty SUV image, it is enhanced with a new front grille and bumper design, LED headlights and fog lamps, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, new fender arch, and side body molding, new rear garnish and LED combination lamps and roof rails.
Powered by the DOHC 16-valve, 1.5L MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) gasoline engine the Cross is both responsive and fuel-efficient. Thanks to high-performance sound-absorbing and vibration blocking materials installed in the engine, the MPV is the most silent model in its class (near 80 percent articulation index).
To further enhance driving comfort, it is designed with a wide windshield and high seating position that provides good visibility for the driver and is also equipped with cruise control features to lessen fatigue during long drives.
With a commendable amount of space in its cabin, complemented with versatile seats that can be configured to various positions to accommodate different space or seat requirements. The second and third-row seats are capable of folding flat and with no gaps to accommodate large cargo load.
All of these are combined with a luxurious interior design dominated by black with brown accents and dual-tone leather seats. The ergonomic dashboard features a white-lit high contrast instrument meter display and a 7-inch touch screen multimedia system with a reversing camera.
Traveling with family is even more comfortable with power outlets conveniently pinned on all three rows. For loose items, it also offers ample storage spaces such as seatback pockets, seat undertray, and rear cargo box.
The Xpander was first launched in the Philippines in 2018. It immediately gained market share, selling 13,494 units during its first year. Presently it has sold over 36,000 units, contributing 30 percent to the total sales of MMPC. It has also won numerous awards from highly recognized award-giving bodies that validate it’s being a value-for-money vehicle.
The Xpander Cross retails for P1.255M and is available in four colors.
