Japanese consortiums unite, to invest in “monozukuri”
TOKYO―November 2, 2020―SPARX Group Co., Ltd., Toyota Motor Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, MUFG Bank, Ltd., and Mizuho Bank, Ltd. announced today that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a new fund.
The fund will aim to invest in companies that are related to Japanese “monozukuri” (manufacturing). The partnership’s primary purpose is to contribute to the development of monozukuri by helping the companies with superior technology and human resources implement the Toyota Production System (TPS) and formulate management strategies, through the sustainable growth of these companies.
This objective is in line with the SDGs that the international community is addressing (including “decent work and economic growth” and “industry, innovation, and infrastructure”). Thus, the partnership will contribute to society by improving competitiveness in Japanese monozukuri in the face of the prolonged impact of COVID-19.
Furthermore, the five-firm partnership will consider the details of the size of the investment, other investors, and investment targets, with the goal of establishing the fund in early December. For more information check our the official News Release or download a PDF copy here.
Mitsubishi Motors expands network with new Batangas dealership

Nissan, DOTR new campaign to open up the roads to local tourism
Safe travels and safer local tourism.
This is what Nissan Philippines and the Department of Tourism (DOT), is planning to introduce. A campaign called “Safe Trips,” will involve creating both space and the conditions to allow for safe and healthy road trips around the Philippines.
Local tourism dropped 100% over the stretch of the ECQ and local road travel, hampered by checkpoints and the need to draft and implement safety policies even at GCQ timing continued to hamper the hospitality industry. Beaches were closed for the most part and the uptake of visitors still very slow.
According to an insider at the DoT, this partnership between Nissan and DOT aims to promote safe and responsible land travel to support the recovery of the country’s tourism industry.
“Safe Trips” will be launched through a media gathering on November 5.
