Bentley Systems announces winners of infrastructure awards

    AFTER four days of breakout sessions and keynotes expounding on and promoting the use of building information modeling (BIM) and digital twins, the highlight of Bentley Systems, Inc.’s Year in Infrastructure (YII) 2019 conference, acknowledged and honored eighteen YII 2019 Awards winners and gave out nine Special Recognition awards.

    The Philippines’ sole entry, the San Gabriel Power Plant competed in the power plants category.

    The San Gabriel Power Plant, operated by Siemens Energy Inc. Gas and Power uses Bentley AssetWise, ContextCapture. It’s entry to the YII 2019 entitled “Asset Performance Management for Power Plants Project” competed in the Utilities and Industrial Asset Performance against several bigger projects from North America, Europe and Asia.

    The 414-megawatt-rated natural gas power plant is located in Batangas City. Siemens has been the facility operations and maintenance provider since the commercial operation started in November 2016. It utilizes a combined-cycle gas turbine, which is designed to have an efficiency rating greater than 60 percent and high operational flexibility.

    The category winner was EPCOR Utilities from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for its project “Implementing Risk Based Asset Management for Power Distribution.”

    Bentley Systems, the leading global provider of comprehensive software and digital twin Cloud services for advancing the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure, gives the annual awards program to recognize the extraordinary work of Bentley users advancing design, construction, and operations of infrastructure throughout the world.

    Twelve independent jury panels of industry experts selected 54 finalists from 571 nominations submitted by more than 440 user organizations in more than 60 countries.

    A special award, the “Bentley Institute Knowledge Advancement Advocate Award” was given to Alison Watson, chief executive and founder of. “Class of Your Own.”

    Class of Your Own, is a UK-headquartered provider of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) curriculum and built environment-focused learning programs for secondary school students. It has partnered with Bentley Systems to create a new, future-focused global curriculum, called “Design Engineer Construct!” (DEC) which provides its students hands-on knowledge and skills for careers in infrastructure professions.

    The awards ceremony and gala night happened on October 24 at the conclusion of the Year in Infrastructure 2019 Conference in Singapore.
