Asia United Bank (AUB), one of the fastest growing universal banks in the Philippines, has partnered with Grab Philippines to enable the acceptance of GrabPayQR code transactions in Starbucks stores in the Philippinesusing AUB PayMate.
AUB PayMate is a digital payment channel that allows merchants to accept QR payments from Chinese tourists. With the launch of AUB PayMate, AUB became the first bank to have launched QR payment acceptance for WeChat Pay, AliPay, and Union Pay QR.
In 2019, AUB PayMate partnered with GCash and now GrabPay, enabling merchant outlets in the country to accept QR payments from Filipino customers.
“We are excited to further support Starbucks Philippines in incorporating digital innovations at their stores with AUB’s forward thinking solutions. GrabPay brings in another element of excitement in this partnership with Grab’s strong customer following and engagement,” said AUB President Manuel Gomez.
GrabPay is the mobile wallet for Southeast Asia’s everyday everything app, Grab. It powers all cashless payments within its ecosystem including services such as transport, food, delivery, hotels, etc., and in-store and online transactions in thousands of partner merchants all over the Philippines.
“Starbucks has been a Filipino favorite for many years. As the everyday everything app of Filipinos, we are thrilled to enable the convenience of getting your daily coffee fix via cashless payment with GrabPay through AUB PayMate” said GrabPay Head Jonny Bates.
The AUB PayMate – GrabPay implementation allows baristas to input the transaction in their point of sale system and Grab users to easily pay using their dynamic GrabPay QR code.
