‘Wayward government officials and congressmen will long be remembered for their unforgivable callousness today in making sure their pockets are lined with huge commissions…
THE conviction of Janet Lim Napoles and former Cagayan de Oro Congressman Constantino Jaraula by the Sandiganbayan for graft and malversation of public funds should be sending strong signals to the perennially corrupt in government, but Sen. Ping Lacson doesn’t think so. He laments that “corruption in government has not stopped and it goes unabated.”
Many had been emboldened by the acquittal of Sen. Boing Revilla, who was tagged as one of the alleged beneficiaries of the Napoles grand scam. The initial DOJ probe into the P10 billion thievery of the people’s money was politicized, apparently with several senators and congressmen allied with the Aquino administration getting off the hook. And it seems the present climate for big-time graft has bred its worst kind, leaving Lacson to say “it has gotten worse.”
The pitfalls of the current administration in fighting graft have been marked instead by a selective form of condoning and encouraging, with President Duterte probably falling into a quagmire of transactional politics, deception, blind loyalties, dementia and opportunism.
Can one say that he has deliberately turned his back on an aggressive anti-corruption campaign as part of a bigger scenario to try to remain in power after 2022?
Wayward government officials and congressmen will long be remembered for their unforgivable callousness today in making sure their pockets are lined with huge commissions from billions of pesos of purchases that should have gone to prevent sickness, suffering and death.
It is no longer hard to grasp the deeper purpose behind the COVID crisis which God allowed for many to change their ways. We should know this for a fact – that we are in engaged in a spiritual warfare and indeed we need Christ today more than ever. People in and out of government who contribute to the mounting graft and corruption, as well as to the prevalence of adulterous relations, now face confrontation in the supernatural realm.
Their lives will either be cursed or blessed. Romans 1: 18-21: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness… For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened… and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man…. Therefore, God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
