Sinas revamps police force


    PNP chief Debold Sinas yesterday announced a major reshuffle in the police force that affected 23 senior police officers due to the retirement and impending retirement of a one-star general and two-star generals.

    “We are infusing new blood into the command structure to fill the void created by the retirement of some senior officials and ensure continuity of command,” Sinas said.

    The movement was triggered by the retirement of PNP Health Service chief Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan yesterday; the coming retirement of director for intelligence Maj. Amado Clifton Empiso on February 6, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Maj. Gen. Jose Napoleon Coronel on February 11.

    Named to succeed Bathan is Brig. Gen. Luisito Magnaye, the outgoing deputy commander of the Special Action Force.

    The successors of Empiso and Coronel will be Director for Information and Communication Technology Management Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro and Director for Research and Development Brig. Gen. Dennis Agustin, respectively.

    Twenty other senior officers were given new assignments, including Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., the incoming director for information and communication technology management; Brig. Gen. Domingo Lucas, director for research and development; Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra, deputy director for administration of the National Capital Region Police Office; Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., deputy director for operations of the NCRPO; Brig. Gen. Florencio Ortilla, director of the Aviation Security Group; Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta, director of the Ilocos region police office;

    Brig. Gen. Celso Bael, deputy director for administration of MIMAROPA regional police office; Brig. Gen. Nelson Bondoc, director of the Northern Police District; Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, director of the Southern Police District; Col. Ronaldo Cabral, deputy director for administration of the Northern Mindanao regional police office; Brig. Gen. Walfredo Pornillos, deputy director for administration of the Bangsamoro Autonous Region in Muslim Mindanao; Brig. Gen. Jon Arnaldo, executive officer at the Directorate for Intelligence; Col. Tellio Ngis, deputy director of Special Action Force;

    Col. John Guygoyon, executive officer at the PNP directorate for intelligence and detective mangement; Col. Angeles Geñorga Jr., dean of academics of the PNP Academy; Brig. Gen.
