S. Cotabato polls cancelled

THE Commission on Elections has cancelled the forthcoming October 26 elections in the 1st and 3rd districts of South Cotabato.

The Comelec has issued Minute Resolution No. 19-0932 in compliance with the decision of the Supreme Court which granted the petition for status quo ante order sought by Rep. Shirlyn Banas-Nograles

The elections body had cancelled the May 13 congressional elections in the two districts following the reconfiguration of the districts of South Cotabato by the House of Representatives.

“The Commission, taking into consideration the Supreme Court decision, resolves to cancel the October 26 1st Regular Elections for Member of House of Representatives, 1st and 3rd Legislative Districts of South Cotabato,” said the Minute Resolution dated September 25.

“That the Commission will not file a Motion for Reconsideration on the Decision of the SC and accordingly inform the Office of the Solicitor General,” it added.

Similarly, the commission en banc said it will now prepare for the proclamation of Banas-Nograles.
