PNP probing safety protocols breach in Cebu, Batangas

NATIONAL police chief Gen. Debold Sinas yesterday said the PNP Regional Directors Offices in Cebu and Batangas have started separate investigations into the possible breach of health protocols during the public events attended by Sen. Emmanuel Pacquiao and presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

Sinas said the instruction to conduct an investigation came from Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, a member of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Sinas said he has given the Cebu and Batangas RDOs, which are conducting the investigation in coordination with the regional offices of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), until Monday next week to complete their probe and then later, so he can submit a recommendation to Año.

“They should forward it by next week, Monday, so I cay relay their recommendation to the SILG so he will know the result of the inquiry and investigation conducted by our PNP commanders,” he said, adding the final decision will be up to Año.
