MALACAÑANG yesterday sent its condolences to Vice President Ma. Leonor Robredo on the death of her mother, Salvacion “Sally” Santo Tomas Gerona, on Saturday night.
Gerona was 83.
“We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Vice President Ma. Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo for the passing of her beloved mother, Ms. Salvacion Gerona. In this time of bereft, we also offer our thoughts and sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Ms. Gerona… We pray that the perpetual light will shine upon Ms. Gerona, and that her soul, through the mercy of God, may rest in eternal happiness and peace,” said Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, concurrent presidential spokesman.
He said Robredo’s late mother is remembered by her loved ones for being a selfless and dedicated teacher “who molded countless of young minds across generations.”
She taught English at the Universidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga.
Asked if President Duterte would attend her wake, Panelo said he was not sure if it is in the President’s schedule.
Robredo said the wake will be at the Eternal Chapels and Mortuary, Eternal Gardens, Balatas Road in Naga City. She thanked all those who offered prayers and sent condolences. – Jocelyn Montemayor
