OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency seized 14 kilos of suspected shabu, worth P95.2 million, and four drug peddlers were arrested in separate operations in the provinces of Cebu and and Lanao del Sur.

Twelve kilos of shabu, worth P81.6 million, were found at around 3 p.m. Saturday at the J&T Regional Headquarters in Mandaue City in Cebu, PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon said yesterday.

Carreon said a K9 team found indicators that three black boxes, declared to be loaded with LED spotlights, contained illegal drugs during the conduct of random paneling and sweeping operation.

The boxes were later brought to Pier 3 in Cebu City for X-ray. “The X-ray showed indicators that the boxes contained organic substance contrary to the declared cargo contents,” said Carreon, adding the boxes, when opened, contained 12 kilos of shabu.

“The shipper and recipient are identified and are subject to investigation and filing of case in court,” Carreon said, without giving names.

PDEA operatives seized two kilos of suspected shabu, worth P13.6 million, and arrested four drug dealers in a buy-bust operation in Malabang town in Lanao del Sur on Friday afternoon.

The suspects were identified as Charley Calis Talib, Michael Embor Gamuranao, Aldasir Igo Bakundo and Radal Jadin Naming, all of Zamboanga City. Their minor companion was rescued and will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Carreon said the suspects were apprehended as soon as they handed over the shabu to a poseur buyer in Barangay Bago. The PDEA operation was supported by military and police units.

Ten persons were arrested in buy-bust operation in Mandaluyong and Marikina, with P1.176 million worth of suspected shabu seized.

Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan, Eastern Police District director, identified the ten as John Ray Lopez, 26; Terencio Elmas, 47; Joan Mallorca, 22; Jun Jun Borjal, 27; Palmar Sacbayana, 46; Gerry Dela Rosa, 44; Angelica Balane, 32; Arnulfo Butaslac, 37; Joey Santos, 35; and a 15-year-old boy. – With Christian Oineza
