P904.3M chemicals used to produce shabu destroyed

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency yesterday destroyed P904.3 million worth of solid and liquid chemicals and equipment used in the production of shabu in Valenzuela City.

“This is the biggest destruction of precursors and controlled chemicals in the history of drug law enforcement,” PDEA chief Wilkins Villanueva during the ceremony at the Green Plant Management in Barangay Punturin.

Villanueva said PDEA will continue to destroy illegal drugs, chemicals and equipment “until we reach our goal of zero drug inventory which we promised to our beloved President Duterte.”

Last October, Duterte ordered law enforcement agencies to destroy all recovered drugs, along with chemicals and equipment, to prevent the drugs from being recycled or resold.

Later in October, PDEA destroyed 1.5 tons of illegal drugs, worth P9.3 billion, in Cavite. In December, Duterte graced PDEA’s destruction of 1.3 tons of illegal drugs, worth P7.3 billion, also in Cavite.

Destroyed during the ceremony were PP784.7 million worth of solid chemicals, P108.3 million worth of liquid chemicals and P11.7 worth of laboratory equipment.
