THE Department of Labor and Employment yesterday said P62 million in financial assistance remains available for workers from the education sector that have been adversely affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a virtual press briefing, Labor spokesman Rolly Francia said the continued failure of the DOLE to fully disburse the one-time COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) fund is due to the lack of applicants.
“We still have available funds simply because we have no more takers, no more applicants,” Francia said, adding that previous recipients of the cash aid can apply new.
“We have P62 million based on our records, and we are ready to disburse this amount to beneficiaries,” he said.
In a separate interview, Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay bared that they have already disbursed P238 million out of the P300 million budget allocation under the Bayanihan 2.
“A total of 45,715 from the private and public sector have already benefited,” said Tutay.
