THE National Bureau of Investigation yesterday said P37.9 million worth of fake copper masks were seized by its operatives in separate raids in Manila, Pasay and Binan, Laguna.
NBI officer in charge Eric Distor said the operation last February 4 targeted several stores in Binondo, Manila and Pasay, along with a warehouse in Binan, Laguna.
Distor said the operation stemmed from a complaint filed by JC Premiere Business International requesting their assistance to stop the proliferation of fake copper masks using the company’s logo.
“The NBI-NCR requested search warrants against the seven subject stores and warehouse for violation of trademark infringement under Republic Act 8293 which were granted and issued by RTC Branch 46 of the Manila Regional Trial Court,” Distor said.
He said charges for violation of RA 8293 have been filed against the respondents.
