P13.6M shabu seized in Cebu, 2 suspects slain

OPERATIVES of the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group killed two suspected drug dealers and seized two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million following a firefight in Cebu City on Tuesday night.

The fatalities were identified as Michael Johnlery Olid, 29; and Arnel Degulacion, 42; said to be the henchmen of Ronald Natividad, alias Dodong Toldo, a drug lord incarcerated at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City.

PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Lee said Olid and Degulacion died in a shootout with PDEG policemen during a buy-bust operation at around 10:30 p.m. in South Road Propertis in Barangay Mambaling.

The suspects, who were armed with a KG-9 submachine gun and a cal. 45 pistol, shot it out after sensing they were dealing with lawmen.

Police said Olid and Degulacion are also associated with Natividad’s son, Dave Kelleher, who is currently detained at the Mandaue City Jail on a drug-related case. Natividad’s wife, Annabel, was arrested by the police last month in Cavite during a buy-bust operation and yielded five kilos of shabu worth P34 million.

In September, three henchmen of convicted drug lord Rustico Ygot, currently detained at the national penitentiary, were arrested in Cebu City during a buy-bust operation and yielded seven kilos of shabu worth P47.6 million. – With Christian Oineza
