MORE than 100 foreigners working in the country without the required documents are facing deportation, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said they are set to submit to the Bureau of Immigration the names of individuals that may face deportation.
“We have around 126 names to be submitted to the BI based on our ongoing validation. We found they have no records with DOLE,” Tutay said, adding the employment records of hundreds of other alien workers are still undergoing validation.
Tutay said the names undergoing validation come from Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators.
Asked on the certainty of the identified foreign workers being deported, Tutay said it is up to the BI.
“It’s the call of the BI,” said Tutay, adding they are hastening the validation inspection of establishments with foreign employees to meet a Dec. 15 deadline set by the DOLE.
