AFTER two days of less than 2,000 cases, 2,269 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday along with 72 more deaths.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 568,680 while the death toll is up to 12,201 for a case fatality rate of 2.15 percent.
There were 738 more recoveries, meaning the number of survivors has risen to 524,042.
But there remained 32,437 active cases, of which 88.5 percent are mild cases, 6.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.4 percent critical cases, 2.3 percent severe cases, and 0.78 percent moderate cases.
Only one new case among overseas Filipinos was reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and one new fatality.
The total cases overseas rose to 14, 873 cases in 87 countries and the death toll is now up to 1,016.
Sixty-six new cases were reported in Manila, bringing the total active cases in the city to 433. There were 68 new recoveries and no new death.
The city health department said of the 27,817 Manilenos who have contracted the virus, 26,582 have recovered. The death toll stands at 802. – Ashzel Hachero
