NBI ordered to step up search for lawyer

JUSTICE Secretary Menardo Guevarra yesterday said he has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to intensify the search for lawyer Ryan Oliva, a professor at the UP College of Law who has been missing since November 21.

Oliva also works for the Department of Tourism’s legislative liaison unit.

Guevarra said the NBI is coordinating the search with the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Oliva’s bag containing personal items such as ATM, credit, and other cards was recovered by authorities at a seashore in Looc, Occidental Mindoro last Friday.

On Saturday, NBI Special Action Unit chief Emeterio Dongallo Jr. said Oliva was last seen at a resort in Nasugbu, Batangas and could have gone to Lubang Island in Mindoro.
