GERMANY is looking to hire around 30,000 foreign nurses and other hospital workers beginning next year, according to the Department of Labor and Employment.
While the 30,000 jobs are not exclusive to Filipinos, Germany prefers Filipino workers, said Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
“They want us Filipinos. In their order of preference, No. 1 is the Philippines,” he said.
Last month, DOLE said Germany is projected to hire 1,000 Filipino nurses by next year under the Triple Win Project, a government-to-government hiring program between Germany and the Philippines, which is being administered by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
Bello hinted the number may go beyond 1,000.
“They want to hire as many as they can, and we have many nurses that are well qualified,” he said. – Gerard Naval
