A FEM ALE overseas Filipino worker in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates who went missing since March last year has been found dead and her remains repatriated over the weekend, according to the Labor department.
In a virtual press briefing yesterday, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the body of Mary Anne Daynolo was found buried in an area near the hotel where she worked as a receptionist.
He said the remains of Daynolo were found after the police persuaded the main suspect, identified only as “Paul,” to lead them to the place where she was buried last month. Bello said the body bore a fatal knife wound in the neck.
“Just last January, the UAE police found the remains but (they were) already in an advanced stage of decomposition. Her remains have already been brought home,” said Bello.
Bello said while the main suspect, Paul, has been nabbed, he is pushing for the arrest of two more accomplices.
“They should also be caught and brought to justice. Justice should be served for what they did to our beloved OFW,” Bello said.
Bello said the National Bureau Investigation has been conducting an autopsy on the body of Daynolo on the request of her parents.
“I hope the results of the autopsy could help in determining what actually happened to Daynolo and those responsible for her death,”
