PRESIDENT Duterte has concurred with the Commission on Election’s deputation of the military and the police for the plebiscite in Compostella Valley (ComVal) on December 7.
Malacañang released yesterday Memorandum Order 42, which was signed by the President on November 28, approving the Comelec’s request to deputize the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police to help keep the peace and order during the plebiscite to ratify Republic Act No. 11297 which renames the province of Compostela Valley to Davao de Oro.
The memorandum also recognized the Comelec’s mandate to “deputize, with the concurrence of the President, law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the Government, including the AFP, for the exclusive purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible elections.”
The President, in the memorandum order, also directed all law enforcement and other concerned agencies to coordinate with the Comelec in the performance of their duties and functions.
