NEW and existing party-list organizations have until March 31 to formally manifest their intentions to participate in the May 2022 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday announced.
“The manifestation of intent to participate in the party-list elections for the May 9, 2022 NLE may be filed until March 31, 2021 only,” the Comelec said in Resolution No. 10690.
The Comelec said party-list groups are not yet required to submit the names of their nominees, the deadline of which the Commission will set at a latter date.
“An existing or registering party shall file a complete list of at least five nominees and their corresponding certificates of nomination and acceptance with the Law Department of the Commission within the same period designated for the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC),” the Comelec said.
Under the law, all party-lists looking to run in the forthcoming elections must file their Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the party-list race with the elections body.
Back in the May 2019 elections, a total of 182 party-list groups had submitted their Manifestations of Intent to Participate with the COMELEC.
