PRESIDENT Duterte has appointed former President and Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as Presidential Adviser on Clark Programs and Projects.
Arroyo, who hails from Pampanga where the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone is located, will receive a one peso salary a year. She served as president from 2001 until 2010, and later as speaker from 2018 to 2019.
Also appointed were Atty. Aimee P. Ferolino-Ampoloquio, an election supervisor from Davao del Norte who has been named Comelec commissioner, and Gilbert de la Cruz Cruz as permanent member of the Dangerous Drugs Board.
Arroyo also served other positions in government, including vice president from 1998 to 2001, senators from 1992 to 1998, deputy speaker of the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2017 and concurrently headed different department when she was president and vice president such as secretary of the Department of National Defense (2006 to 2007), secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (1998 to 2000). – With Gerard Naval
