Ex-UP cager, 4 others nabbed in anti-drug op

A FORMER varsity cager of University of the Philippines and four others were arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and police operatives in an anti-narcotics operation in Parañaque City early yesterday morning.

The former UP Maroon was identified as Keven Rae Astorga, who represented UP in the UAAP more than a decade ago.

Arrested with Astorga were Agustin Deulexandre Montejo, Jericho Tumagan, Karen Vidanes Salvahan and Miguel Carlos Mojares.

The five were nabbed during a buy-bust operation, led by PDEA agents, at a drug den on JEMP Building in BF Homes. The drug den was consequently dismantled, PDEA said.

Reports said Astorga was celebrating his birthday when he and his companies were arrested. Astorga’s companions reportedly tried to escape but were eventually collared.

Seized from them were 150 grams of kush worth P150,000, sachets of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and two cellphones.

Anti-narcotics agents also arrested a suspected drug pusher who yielded over two kilos of shabu, worth nearly P14 million, in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

The Western Visayas Regional Police Office identified the suspect as Emmanuel Siaboc, alias Eman, 31, a resident of Barangay 6 in San Carlos City.

A cohort of Siaboc, identified as William Allones, alias Bebe, managed to elude arrest. Follow-up operations are ongoing to locate Allones.

Operatives of the San Carlos City Police station, PNP Regional Intelligence Division 6 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 arrested Siaboc at around 2:45 p.m. during a buy-bust operation at St. Vincent Subdivision in Barangay 1.

Siaboc is listed as a “high-value” target of the Western Visayas Regional Police Office in the war against illegal drugs.

Seized from Siaboc were 2.05 kilos of shabu, worth P13.94 million; and the buy-bust money.
