Ex-Pangasinan gov hurt in ambush

FORMER Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr. was injured when unidentified men ambushed him in Barangay Magtaking, San Carlos City yesterday afternoon.

Sketchy reports reaching Camp Crame said the unidentified men opened fire at Espino’s vehicle, a Toyota Innova, at around 4:30 p.m. Initial reports said two of Espino’s security aides were also hurt.

A post by Sen. Dick Gordon said five of Espino’s bodyguards died shielding him from his assailants.
Reports said Espino sustained bullet wounds and was rushed to the Blessed Family Hospital in San Carlos City.

Espino, a former congressman of the 5th district of Pangasinan, was included in President Duterte’s narcolist but the President later issued an apology, saying he was fed wrong information.
    Police are investigating the attack.
