PRESIDENT Duterte has given former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. a new position, naming him as his presidential adviser on streamlining of government processes.
Duterte also promoted information and communications undersecretary Ramon Jacinto as presidential adviser for telecommunications.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said Velasco and Jacinto’s positions hold the rank of secretary.
Evasco’s appointment paper was signed last November 24 while Jacinto’s was signed last November 25.
Evasco was the Cabinet secretary from 2016 until he resigned in 2018 to run for governor of Bohol, but lost.
He is a former mayor of Maribojoc, Bohol. He served as chief of staff of then Mayor Duterte and as Duterte’s campaign manager in the 2016 elections.
“His familiarity with the present bureaucracy would contribute greatly in his new task of streamlining government processes in the Executive,” Roque said.
Jacinto was the President’s former Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology until he was appointed as information and communication undersecretary.
