THE Bureau of Immigration has suspended the accreditation of a travel agency caught duplicating approved visa orders.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente yesterday said he ordered the suspension of the agency but declined to identify it while a probe is ongoing.
Morente said the agency was ordered to submit a written explanation on why its accreditation should not be cancelled and its cash bond not forfeited.
He said they received information the agency allowed some Chinese to avail of the visa-upon-arrival (VOA) facility through fraud, misrepresentation, and false information.
“We received a report from our men stationed at the airports that they have intercepted a number of Chinese nationals who showed fake VUA. What these illegals do not know is that we have incorporated VUA records in our computer systems since last year, hence visas are easily verified upon presentation to our men,” Morente explained. – Ashzel Hachero
