THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday temporarily waived the penalties for the renewal of Alien Employment Permits (AEPs) that expired during the imposition of the community quarantine in the country.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said expired AEPs not renewed on time will no longer be subjected to penalties.
“Alien Employment Permit renewal applications filed beyond the period provided under Sections 1 and 3 of Department Order No. 214-2020 shall be treated as new applications and shall not be assessed with penalties,” said Bello.
Bello, however, said the waiver of penalties will only be until February 4, 2021.
Under Department Order No. 214-2020, applications for renewal of registration, permit, certificate, or license, which expired within the period of the community quarantine must be filed within 30 working days from the expiration.
An AEP is a permit issued to a non-resident alien or foreigner seeking admission to the Philippines for employment purposes.
