Comelec voter registration applicants now at 1M

AT the start of 2021, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has finally recorded over one million applications for voter registration for the May 2022 national and local elections.

Based on the data provided by the Comelec, there are now more than one million applicants who’d like to participate in next year’s polls.

“As of January 7, there are already 1,050,793 applications for voter registration,” said the Comelec even as it noted that the figure is still a quarter of the expected number of voter registration applicants.

The poll body opened the registration for new voters in September 1, 2020. All local Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) are open from Mondays to Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept applicants for voter registration.

Voter registration activities for the May 2022 elections are scheduled to run until September 30, 2021.
