Bus slams into parked truck; 2 dead, 18 injured

    TWO persons were killed while 18 were injured when a passenger bus slammed into a stalled dump truck in Pasig city on Wednesday night.

    Col. Moises Villaceran, local police chief, identified the fatalities as Joseph Amor, 45, of Caloocan City, and Jenny Ann Clarino, 21, of Pasig.

    Clarino was declared dead on arrival at the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center due to body injuries while Amor succumbed to his wounds while under observation at the Pasig General Hospital.

    The injured were brought to different hospitals. They were identified as Dennis Arguelles, 46; Sharia Uraba, 21; Sheila Mae Borin, 31; Mary Grace Garcia Joniel Bucol, 26; Al Castillo, 36; Jermaine Balagsa, 26; Justine Vito, 24; Ryan Bulaong, 26; Almodiel Bryan, 24; Carl Tejada, 21; Edison Balaba, 22; Maricel Nava, 29; Dennis Ardilles, 45; John Arambalo, 27; Jenny Bolidad, 22; Sanjie Aguyo, 25; and Princess Loto, 24.

    The truck driver, Crisanto Fajanilla, 40, and bus driver, Jay R Labitag, 28, are in police custody and may face charges of reckless impudence resulting to double homicide and multiple physical injury charges.

    Investigation showed the bus was traveling on the westbound lane of Marcos Highway in Barangay Dela Paz going towards Cubao, Quezon City when it slammed into the dump truck parked on the side of the road apparently due to mechanical problems.
