BIR shuts down POGO service provider in Parañaque


    A PHILIPPINE Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) service provider in Parañaque City and its branch in Pasay City were shut down by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) yesterday for not paying an estimated P100 million tax.

    Padlocked was the head office of Altech Innovations Business Outsourcing at Aseana City, Parañaque and its branch in Pasay City.

    The BIR said that Altech is registered as a single proprietorship owned by Jan Erick Lavariaz Altavas.

    BIR Deputy Commissioner Arnel Guballa said the establishment is not registered to the BIR as VAT tax payer. He added that it has an estimated of 700 to 1000 employees, who are all Chinese.

    Guballa said that based on their records, the firm is owned by one individual as opposed to the establishment’s directory which listed it as a company. – Rod Lagusad and Angela Lorraine Celis
