Benhur Abalos named new MMDA chief


    PRESIDENT Duterte has named former Mandaluyong City mayor Benhur Abalos as the new chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) vice Danilo Lim who passed away last week.

    Sen. Christopher Go, former aide of the President, confirmed the appointment of Abalos on Sunday.

    Go said Abalos is to take his oath of office on Monday.

    Abalos first served as city mayor from 1998 to 2004 before he won as representative of the lone district of Mandaluyong in the House of Representatives. He again served as mayor of city mayor after winning the 2007 elections.
