Aussie, Pinoy cohort nabbed in CDO for child exploitation

AN Australian and his Filipino cohort were arrested by police in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday afternoon for child abuse and exploitation.

Northern Mindanao Regional Police director Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan yesterday said two female minors were also rescued from the two and are now under the care of the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office.

Anduyan identified the Australian as Matthew Aaron Clement, 42, and his Filipino cohort as Julius Mandawe, 29. They are detained at the Cagayan de Oro City police station for documentation and filing of charges.

Anduyan said the two were nabbed by police units, led by the Regional Special Operation Unit, at their rented house in a subdivision in Barangay Canitoan at around 4:30 p.m. based on information provided by a “confidential agent.”

Police said Clement is “hiring a female minors to his rented house and force them to use illegal drugs and forced to have sex with them while taking their pictures and videos and uploaded it online.”

Recovered at the suspects’ rented house were several sex toys, cellphones, two pieces of unsealed transparent sachets containing traces of white crystalline residues, and various drug paraphernalia.

The Northern Mindanao Regional Police said the suspects “were under one month surveillance before the operating team conducted the said operation.”
