AN Army soldier shot dead a fellow soldier after an argument inside a military facility in Zamboanga City on Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatality as Technical Sergeant Joseph Cutaran, 46, and the gunman as Private First Class Herbert Antonio, 21, both assigned with the 54th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Lower Cabatangan in Zamboanga City.
Police said the incident occurred at 8:45 p.m. in the facility of the 54th IB after Cutaran confronted Antonio for not being in his post, causing the overflow of the tank that was being filled with water.
Antonio was in the barracks and under the influence of liquor during the confrontation, police said.
Police said Antonio got irked and shot Cutaran twice in the head with the use of a 9 mm pistol, causing the victim’s death.
Antonio later escaped and is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
