FROM a combined nine deaths last Monday and Tuesday, the Department of Health reported 53 more patients succumbed to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) disease yesterday while there were 1,184 new cases, raising the number of infections in the country to 553,424.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the death toll from the deadly virus has climbed to 11,577 for a 2.09 case fatality rate.
There were 271 more recoveries, meaning the number of survivors has risen to 512,033.
But there remained 29,814 active cases, of which 85.4 percent are mild cases, 8.5 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.6 percent critical cases, 2.6 percent severe cases, and 0.83 percent moderate cases.
Seven more overseas Filipinos have been infected with the deadly virus, bringing the total number to 14,679.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also said there were seven more recoveries and no new deaths. The number of overseas Filipinos who survived the deadly virus now stands at 9,238 and the death toll at 979.
Meanwhile, the Manila City Health Department reported 47 new cases, bringing to 379 the number of active cases in the city and 47 new recoveries.
ARTA head Jeremiah Belgica said he has tested positive for the deadly virus although he is asymptomatic. The positive result came out last February 10.
Belgica advised those who have interacted with him recently to get themselves tested. – With Ashzel Hachero
