21 more die; 1,156 new cases

    DAVAO City had 126 infections as the Department of Health reported 1,156 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases yesterday, with 21 more patients succumbing to the deadly virus.

    In its latest bulletin, the DOH said Quezon City reported 66 new cases, Rizal had 64, Bulacan 56, and Manila 38.

    Overall, the number of infections in the country rose to 452,988 while the number of deaths now stands at 8,833 for a 1.95 case fatality rate.

    There were 425 recoveries, meaning the number of survivors has risen to 419,282. The DOH said this means that 92.6 percent of patients had recovered.

    The DOH also said there are 24,873 active cases, accounting for 5.5 percent of COVID cases in the country.

    Of the active cases, 84.7 percent are mild cases, 6.7 percent are asymptomatic cases, 5.6 percent are critical cases, 2.8 percent are severe cases, and 0.30 percent are moderate cases.
