2 NPA leaders killed in Novaliches

    TWO New People’s Army leaders and one of their men were killed and two policemen were injured during a raid on a rebel safehouse in Novaliches, Quezon City early yesterday.

    Slain were Elueterio Sadyaw Agmalig, alias Omeng, Yano, Andre and Nick, commanding officer of the NPA’s Kilusang Larangan Guerilla Sierra Madre; and Freddie Daileg, alias Poldo, deputy secretary of the Larangan Guerilla Platun 1.
    The third fatality has yet to be identified.

    Injured were two policemen who were members of police units that augmented Army units, led by the Army’s 7th Infantry Division, that raided the rebel lair in Queensland Subdivision in Damong Maliit, Novaliches.

    The raid was conducted on the strength of arrest warrants for destructive arson, murder, frustrated murder and rebellion.

    Army spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said Agmaliw and Daileg opened fire at the arresting personnel who returned fire, leading to a 45-minute firefight.

    Recovered at the scene were an M16 rifle with magazine and ammunition, a cal. 38 revolver, two hand grenades, improvised explosive device components, cellphones, a laptop, and rebel documents.
