2 Maguindanao massacre suspects ordered detained at Camp Bagong Diwa

THE Quezon City Regional Trial Court has ordered the transfer of two suspects in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre case from the municipal police station in Parang, Maguindanao to Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig city.

In an order dated January 17, QCRTC Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes ordered the transfer of Kagi Faizal, alias Faizal Baga Dimaukum, and Gambayan Kasim, alias Lori Alip, who have been detained at the Parang municipal police station jail after they were arrested by law enforcers early this year.

Solis-Reyes also directed the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to present the two before the court in the morning of January 21 for their arraignment in connection with their alleged participation in the gruesome massacre in which 58 people were killed, including 32 print and broadcast journalists.

“Let these cases be revived and be returned to the active docket of this court, and a commitment order be issued insofar as accused Kagi Faizal and Gambayan Kasim are concerned,” the court ordered.

The two were arrested last January 6 and 9, respectively, in Datu Saudi Ampatuan and Shariff Aguak towns in Maguindanao.

They were among the 80 suspects who have remained at large until last month’s promulgation of the murders cases. – Ashzel Hachero
