TWO alleged members of a syndicate involved in kidnapping-for-ransom and other crimes were killed in a firefight with policemen in Antipolo City yesterday morning.
In a report to PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas, PNP Anti-Kidnap Group chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo identified the fatalities only as Kelly and Roy, members of a crime ring dubbed the Mokong Group.
Estomo said the motorcycle-riding suspects ignored a checkpoint manned by AKG operatives and Antipolo City policemen on Marcos Highway in Sitio Painuman, Barangay Inarawan at around 5:45 a.m. and later fired at the cops, triggering a shootout that led to their death.
Seized from them were a machine pistol and a handgun. – With Christian Oineza
