QUEZON City had 103 new infections as the Department of Health reported 1,085 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases yesterday while more than 9,000 more patients recovered from the deadly virus.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said Rizal reported 46 more infections, Makati had 44, Manila 43, and Pasig City 39 as the total number of cases in the country rose to 449,400, counting the 1,504 reported last Friday and 1,301 last Saturday.
Three more patients succumbed to the deadly disease, the lowest in nearly five months, that raised the number of fatalities to 8,733, including the eight deaths last Friday and 35 last Saturday, for a case fatality rate of 1.94 percent.
There were 9,269 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 418,687, which included the 273 recoveries last Friday and 111 last Saturday. The DOH said this means that 93.2 percent of COVID patients had recovered.
Less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there are 21,980 active cases, accounting for 4.9 percent of cases in the country.
Of the active cases, 84.4 percent are mild cases, 6.3 percent are critical cases, 5.8 percent are asymptomatic cases, 3.2 percent are severe cases, and 0.33 percent are moderate cases.
Eight more overseas Filipinos were infected with the deadly virus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12, 308, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. – With Ashzel Hachero
