10 days after, still no clues on disappearance of lawyer

AUTHORITIES are still searching for clues and information on what happened to lawyer and UP law professor Ryan Oliva 10 days after he went missing.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra yesterday said his office has yet to receive an update on the ongoing search being conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation on Oliva, whose disappearance since November 21 has baffled many.

“There is no update from the NBI but according to Secretary Berna (Romulo-Puyat) it’s uncharacteristic for Atty. Oliva not to let his family know his whereabouts,” Guevarra said.

Aside from being a UP professor, Oliva also worked for the Department of Tourism’s Legislative Liaison Unit.

Guevarra had directed the NBI to intensify the search for Oliva and to coordinate with the PNP in the ongoing efforts to locate him.

Oliva’s bag containing personal items such as ID cards, ATM and credit cards was recovered last Friday at the seashore in Looc, Occidental Mindoro.

Last Saturday, NBI Special Action Unit chief Emeterio Dongallo Jr. said Oliva was last seen in a resort in Nasugbu, Batangas.
